Twenty Twenty Two
a poem by Hannah Bailey
life just goes by so fast sometimes
yet the days go by slow
all I know is I feel trapped in my own body
like a prisoner in my own home
sadness eats away at me
like a rat chewing on its trap-caught leg
but I just grin and bear it
because there's other people who need protection
pressing on past the pain and the tears
onto a new road we will pave
things will keep on becoming different
you know I've never been one much for change
but perhaps a change in paths,
could be the thing that saves.
